Why I Created the Aligning Mom Blog

My current bedside journal

It’s probably going to puzzle some as to why I would start a blog. Given I have a good career as a Maui Realtor and am already so busy with two children and all the volunteer work I have been doing for my Maui community.

This is all true. All of these things keep me plenty busy. And I have a certain amount of love for my preoccupations.

However, if there’s one thing I have learned while navigating trauma stewardship, it’s to fill up my own cup first. Writing does just that.

In fact, it’s like I’m pouring out of my cup and having it filled at the same time, except the refill comes in twice as fast as the pouring out. You see, when we release the thoughts and emotions we’re holding onto, we clear the energy. We make space for joy and peace. That’s how I feel about writing. It has always been my form of self-expression.

Perhaps my love for writing began in secret with my diary as a young girl. As I received more encouragement and praise from teachers, I was given the confidence to continue to improve my writing.

A divine inspiration

I do a lot of business writing for both my own businesses and for others. Mostly for other entrepreneurial family members and work colleagues. And now, I am elated to get to write for fun. I get to write for the sake of creating! I get to write to share my experiences and hopefully touch someone else’s life who may have had similar experiences.

What you can expect…

Of course my blog topics are subject to change, but I’m excited to share the following with you all.

1. Books: I love to read books. But not just any books. It’s about learning for me. I enjoy looking at different perspectives on various aspects of life. I love books that can teach me something or show me a new perspective. I’ll share my thoughts on books that I have read hard-copy and audio books I have listened to.

2. Spirituality: This one is important to me as my divine connection keeps me grounded in who I truly am; an expression of love. If you’re open-minded to reading my personal experiences, then I invite you to join me in this everlasting journey.

3. Relationships: I’m talking both romantic and familial relationships. Perhaps a little bit about friendships too. But there is so much to share about the first two.

4. Motherhood: Sometimes, I still can’t believe this wild child has turned into a full-blown mother of two. I love my kids dearly and I want to share both the special moments and the struggles, along with some mom hacks with you all.

5. Holistic Modalities: First and foremost, I am not a medical professional and you should always seek help from a medical professional if you are experiencing a medical issue. However, I believe there is a place and time for both modern/western medicine and tradition medicine. Sometimes an issue needs a holistic or whole-istic approach and the two medicinal worlds can supplement each other. Sometimes the dis-ease in our minds can fester up into disease in our bodies. And these have all been my own personal experiences.

Why the name Aligning Mom?

Let me tell you, I have pondered on the name for this blog quite a bit. I started with a quote page on instagram called thee hippie gangster. I never really did anything with it. Then I became a mom and the name didn’t really seem to fit my lifestyle anymore either. Not to mention it probably sounded too close to another very well-known brand. I tinkered with a few other names and they were either taken, too close to another active brand, too long or just didn’t quite communicate what I am trying to convey.

Then inspiration struck and finally bestowed Aligning Mom upon me.

Why “Aligning” instead of “Aligned?“

A present-tense verb felt more appropriate than a past-tense verb/adjective. It also conveys that in this modern world, we are constantly having to align and realign ourselves because of all the noise and curveballs life throws our way.

I also hope people think I’m aligning my energy and not that I’m a chiropractor or anything… remember, I said I am NOT a medical professional, including a chiropractor.

Anyhow, I hope this blog brings value to your life.
